Use the dashboard below to see how your community is doing with creating inclusive pet policies. The Dashboard is best viewed on a larger screen.
To interact with the map itself, you can click on
1) Each point to see the property name and their classification
2) Each state to see their breakdown of dog-inclusive and restricted listings. Alternatively, you can interact with the list of states on the left or right and it will automatically zoom in to your state of interest.
Blue dots = Properties with inclusive pet policies.
Red dots = Properties with restrictive pet policies.
We believe that pet-friendly rentals need to be inclusive of all breed types, sizes, and weights. Dogs should not be discriminated against based or their physical appearance.

Explore Rental Research Trends
Our team began collecting more information about pet policies such as maximum pets allowed and additional fees such as pet deposits and monthly pet rent to better understand barriers to pet ownership and housing beyond breed and weight restrictions.
Use the dashboard below to see pet policy aspects such as maximum pets allowed, pet fees like deposit and additional rent requirements show up in rental policies across the country. The Dashboard is best viewed on a larger screen.
To interact with the dashboard,
1) Filter by state or listing type on the top bar. This will show you all listings we’ve researched in that state and pet policy metrics pertaining to that state.
2) Alternatively, click on a state in the minimum fees chart to see the number of listings we’ve collected with the additional pet information.
Blue circles = Clusters of properties with predominantly inclusive pet policies.
Red circles = Clusters of properties with predominantly restrictive pet policies.
We believe that transparency in rental pet policies is important and can help us achieve the larger goal of advocating for truly pet-inclusive housing.
We have found that there are over 25 types of dogs commonly discriminated against in rental pet policies
Cane Corso, Rottweiler, Irish Water Spaniel, Pit Bull Type, Sheepdog, German Shepherd, Doberman, Bouvier Des Flanders, Belgian Malinois, Akita, Dalmatian, Komondor, Giant Schnauzer, Belgian Tervuren, Wolf Hybrid, Saint Bernard, Chow, Presa Canario, Husky, Bull Terrier, Great Dane, Alaskan Malamute, Shar Pei, American Bulldog, or a mix of any of the above.
Our goal is that this one-of-a-kind dashboard will support advocates across the country in having conversations with property management companies to create inclusive pet policies.
