Fifteen years ago, My Pit Bull is Family began with a simple belief: that no one should have to choose between caring for themselves and caring for the pets they love. What started in our Executive Director’s bedroom with a passion for keeping families together has grown into a community pillar serving thousands of pets and their people each year.

Today, our work spans a 14,000-square-foot community hub, a Mobile Pet Resource Center, Wilbur's Wares thrift store, and soon, an expanded Access Veterinary Care clinic that will dramatically increase affordable veterinary services for families across the Twin Cities. Every step of this journey has been driven by one goal—removing barriers so people and pets can stay together.

Every week, families in North Minneapolis and beyond walk through our doors or meet us at our Mobile Pet Resource Center because they need help caring for their pets. Whether it's pet food, litter, collars, leashes, or access to affordable veterinary care, My Pit Bull is Family is there to make sure no one has to choose between feeding themselves or feeding their pets.

Through our North Minneapolis Pet Resource Center, we distribute more than 30,000 pounds of pet food and supplies each month to families in need. On average, more than 150 families each week receive the support they need to keep their pets healthy and at home. By removing barriers like cost and access, we help prevent pet surrenders, reduce shelter overcrowding, and strengthen the bond between people and their beloved companions.

On Saturday, October 10, from 6:00–9:00 PM, we'll celebrate this incredible milestone at our 15th Birthday Bash at the North Minneapolis Pet Resource Center (2825 N. 2nd St., Minneapolis, MN 55411). More than just a birthday party, this evening is a celebration of fifteen years of community impact, resilience, and growth—from a small grassroots effort to one of the region's leading organizations dedicated to keeping people and pets together. Guests will enjoy food, music, a silent auction, inspiring stories, and a look ahead at the exciting future of our organization.
