Shannon Glenn

Shannon has been shaking up the animal welfare world since 2014 when she joined My Pit Bull is Family, quickly becoming a go-to expert in housing policy and surrender prevention. With deep experience in grassroots campaigns, voter outreach, community building, fundraising, homeless advocacy, and policy creation, Shannon is a relentless advocate for people and pets alike. She’s championed the rights of adults experiencing homelessness as the former Shelter Supervisor of Minnesota’s only pet-friendly emergency homeless shelter.

Holding a Master’s in Advocacy and Political Leadership, Shannon built her program around drafting policies to end housing and insurance discrimination for families with large dogs. Since then, she has helped draft and pass dog-inclusive legislation across the country, bringing her expertise in both policy and advocacy to communities far and wide. She deeply understands the political and systemic forces that impact people—and how those decisions ripple out to affect pets. Where there are people, there are pets, and Shannon’s work is grounded in supporting people first; pets are just the bonus.

In 2019, Shannon launched the North Minneapolis Pet Resource Center after witnessing firsthand the barriers her neighbors faced in accessing quality pet food and supplies—gaps that were forcing pets into shelters and leaving them at large. Today, she continues to lead the charge for families and their furry companions, bringing resources directly to the communities that need them most.

Shannon is also a nationally recognized and requested speaker, sharing her expertise on compassionate programming, supporting people and pets, and progressive housing policies. She inspires organizations and communities across the country to create solutions that put people and pets first, blending practical strategies with visionary leadership.

Shannon lives in North Minneapolis with her three dogs—Charlotte, Fern, and Wilbur—and her cat, Max. When she’s off the clock, you’ll find her binging true crime, on the hunt for the best pad Thai, and scheming ways to make the world safer for pets and the people who love them.
